Last year saw opulent tones such as vintage browns, rich burgundies, and striking navy blues take the interior colour spotlight. This year’s trends couldn’t be more in contrast, with vibrancy, optimism, and renewal acting as key creative inspirations.
If your interior needs a new lease of life and your walls are desperate for a spruce up, read on to uncover the heavenly hues taking interior decorating by storm in 2024.
Calming Blues

Calming blues have been bringing peace and serenity to homes for thousands of years, but never has the colour been so relevant as it is in 2024. As highlighted by DATE Interiors’ Molly Torres Portnof, blues “will be especially popular since Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, and Valspar all named different shades of blue as their 2024 colour”.
When paired with light woods and gentle, creamy tones, blue can create an airy, outdoorsy atmosphere, reminding us of tranquil mountaintops and golden sandy beaches. Alternatively, pairing light blue with moody hues such as mahogany, navy, and black can create a deeply soothing and restful environment, perfect for establishing a reposeful bedroom space.
To get the look, try Benjamin Moore’s Blue Nova, Sherwin-Williams’ Upward or Valspar’s Renew Blue.
Pleasing Peaches

Peach, coral, and apricot hues have a warm, sunny nature which creates a refreshing sense of cheerfulness and optimism in a home. Lick’s Director of Interior Design and Colour Psychologist, Tash Bradley, explains that these shades of red and orange “have the ability to stimulate, energise, and spark conversation. When introduced as accent colours in a home, they create a focal talking point”.
Mimicking the pink-orange tones of an early-morning sunrise, these colours have an uplifting and energising impact on a space. These warm-toned colours are particularly effective at brightening and uplifting north-facing rooms which receive drab, cool-toned sunlight during the daytime.
To get the look, try Pantone’s Peach Fuzz, Lick’s Peach Fuzz or Lick’s Warm Terracotta.
Soothing Greens

Gentle, soothing greens connect us to mother nature and create a relaxing and revitalising atmosphere. Earthy greens, especially sages and pewters, help us to get in touch with our roots and remind us of health and healing.
Graham & Brown has opted for a muted sage green, Viridis, for its colour of the year for 2024. Maryanne Cartwright, Graham & Brown’s Head of Design, describes the colour as “mirroring nature and providing a restful and secure feeling”. With this colour choice, Graham & Brown aims to highlight “the healing and rejuvenating qualities of nature, and the need to create calm and take the time to slow down in this bustling world”.
To get the look, try Graham & Brown’s Viridis or James Hardie’s Mountain Sage.
A freshly-painted space completely changes the backdrop to your daily life, and can feel like a big change.
